MY CALENDAR
A YEAR OF MEDIA
THESE ARE MY AIMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. I WANT TO GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FILM INDUSTRY AND BY ATTENDING THE EVENTS NOTED IN MY CALENDAR, I CAN GET FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE TO BENEFIT ME AND MY FUTURE CAREER.
SEPTEMBER
During the summer and in September, I directed a music video. We shot it in Manchester and chose then more suitable places as we wanted the aesthetic to meet the style of music. It helped me get a feel of how it feels to direct other projects and how there are different conventions and styles.
OCTOBER
In October I was able to shoot a short short, titled 'Mysterious Guest'. The aim of this was to use different camera techniques to slowly reveal the subject of the film. I had only ever shot group projects so it was a nice change just to have one person to work with.
I also plan to have business cards printed as soon as possible so I am able to hand them out to people at film festivals and other media-related events.
NOVEMBER
In November, I attended the Manchester film festival. I have uploaded a blog centred around that day and how I feel like it benefited me.
I also am currently developing a short short called 'Pandora's Hope'. The concept is loosely based on the tale of Pandora's box. Mythology is something I have studied from a young age and I know I can play about with the laws and ideas of the mythology and create something new.
DECEMEBER
This month I plan to work solely on my screenplay. As a writer I know how vital it is to keep writing no matter what. I plan to start my screenplay started and hopefully I will have finished it by January 2020, giving me almost a full year.
JANURARY
In January I am quite excited for what I have planned. I have an interview for the National Youth Film Academy. I have chosen to focus on directing and acting and I have both an interview and an audition in Manchester. I have had auditions in the past so I am more excited than nervous.
FEBURARY
I am going to London for the week for the BFI festival. This is will be a great opportunity to network with directors, actors and filmmakers, giving me a chance to sell myself.
As well as this, I will also be attending a BBC workshop all day to learn about television process. Although film is what I the most interested in, both forms of media cross over and it will be good for me to learn about the behind the scenes.
I also want to proceed with my acting career by signing up for acting agencies and submitting self-tapes and try and make it into the industry as an actor as well.
MARCH
This month I plan to sign up to my acting agencies and writing forums. I am passionate about writing, acting and directing and I want to explore my pathways. As well as this, on the 6th March, the BBC are putting on an event in Leeds. The event is called "Fierce Women in Media." As a young wanting to enter the industry, this is an ideal event for me to get a real taste for the industry and to meet the women behind the scenes.
APRIL
In April I will be shooting my short film, Her Name. I am really looking forward to this as I will be able to use my platform to create personal art for my show reel. I am really grateful for this opportunity and I am really excited to film.
Also, I have worked to find work experience. I will be volunteering for a local football club and will be filming and editing their promotional videos and advertisements. This is really exciting for me as I get to see and experience a different side of filming and can strengthen my knowledge.
MAY
In May, I am going to be shooting a film with a few friends from college. The film will be in pre-production up until May when we shoot it.
