Recently, I had the pleasure of networking with someone I met on Shapr, a networking app I was told about. Nine times out of ten, I have one conversation with the person and then never get around to talking to them again. This person I met had the same aims as me. They are a young writer who is also a part of the LGBT community. Finding people to network with in the same fields as me is exciting but then when I am able to talk freely about my films with another LGBT member, it is honestly so refreshing. We both acknowledged the lack of LGBT representation in the media and how it is important for our generation to make sure there is room for us. All my ideas relate to the LGBT community in one way or another, whether there are several LGBT characters or the plot is a LGBT storyline. After communicating, we followed each other on social media and we spoke about books and films we love. The typical nerdy stuff. I actually felt educated after talking to them. They identify as they/them. I had only ever wrote about characters who are non-binary. The LGBT community is such a wide spectrum and it would be wrong of me to say I know everything about it, despite being a member myself. I valued the person's opinions and we shared our projects with each other. Today, I got a message from them asking about my history in play writing. In Performing Arts, I wrote all the scripts for our productions so I know how to write them. The conversation then lead onto me being offered a slot at the Liverpool film festival in July with a stage play. The theme is "Diversity in Diverse Forms". Due to scheduling clashes, I unfortunately will not have enough time to prepare and write up a play but I am deeply honoured I was asked.

As someone who regularly networks with fellow filmmakers on Twitter, I have found myself in a group of young directors, producers and actors. With this group, I have also been offered a role as a guest on two different podcasts. One of these podcasts is about women in horror and the other is about young directors. I wouldn't straight up say I am a horror fan nor do I 'specialise' in writing in that genre, however one of my latest projects is a horror book, called Movements. However, this is opening up many different opportunities for me and I am able to reach further into the creative industry. The other podcast is a young directors one where I will be able to talk to the hosts about upcoming films as well as given the platform to talk about my own projects.
